"I have
a question. How many of you cried when you saw yourself in your
wedding dress?
I guess a better
question would be, how many didn't?
I went on a
wedding dress-trying-on marathon this weekend. I tried on probably 30
wedding dresses and found two I am in love with. One of them made my
bridemaids cry. It didn't make me cry. Article Continues...
It's a great
wedding dress and is very flattering. I'm a bigger girl so finding
wedding dresses to try on that were flattering was a great thing.
So, should I wait
and try on more wedding dresses until I find one that makes me cry? I
think I'm holding back emotionally until I find *THE* dress, but how
do I know when it's *THE* dress??
Sorry if I rambled
too much....I'm just really confused".

"I think you
should keep trying on more wedding dresses. If you keep coming back
to this one, then it's the one. I tried on lots and lots of
wedding dresses, and in the end I bought one of the first ones I
tried on. After I tried it on, I compared every other wedding dress
to it, and none of them measured up".
Erin
"That's what
happened to me, except mine was at the second store I went to... I
had also tried on at least 30 or so wedding dresses (between the two
stores combined) but I always compared them to the one I loved. Even
my mom said 'It's a year and a half away, don't buy the first
dress". Then she saw it on me and said, "That's the one".
But once you find it, you know".
Kris
"I didn't cry
when I found my wedding dress. My mom almost did, but I didn't. I
went wedding dress shopping one weekend and only tried on 3 dresses
when I found the one I fell in love with. I don't think you have to
cry when you see yourself in it. I don't think I will cry in my
wedding dress until the day of the wedding. That is when I
will be all dolled up and have my necklace and do-dads on and will be
looking all pretty, THEN I will cry (LOL).
If you really love
the dress and your gut feeling tells you it is the one, get it,
crying or not. YOU are the one that has to wear it. If you don't care
that you future husband sees the dress, ask his opionion. I
don't want mine to see my wedding dress until the day, but that is
just me".
Kitty
"My wedding
dress did NOT make me cry but I knew it was the one the moment I
tried it on. If you have found two that you love, I would suggest
picking from one of those two. The dress your bridesmaids liked must
have been beautiful. If it made your bridesmaids cry then you will
probably get the same reaction from everyone else when you walk down
the aisle in it.
The only reason I
have an opinion on this subject is because it took my fiance's cousin
almost a year to find her wedding dress. She kept thinking she would
find something better. Well, it came down to the point that she HAD
to either order a dress or pick one off the rack. She didn't want to
pick one off the rack so she ordered one that she isn't content with.
Hopefully it will come in early enough to allow ample time for alterations.
Good luck and
remember no matter what wedding dress you choose, everyone will think
you are a beautiful bride."

"You
can count me among the ladies who didn't cry. The thing about my
wedding dress is that it fit *all* my criteria (and even a few more I
didn't know I had!), but it didn't look anything like what I
expected, and that threw me. For example, it had embroidery and a
plain skirt. Also, I'm an "older" bride, so I wanted
something "different," not what everyone else was wearing
(no offense, but most wedding dresses look alike to me, just
variations on a theme). And I knew I loved it, but I had to really
think about it before I committed. It *did* make my sister cry. In
the end, she convinced me it was the right dress -- and I'm so glad
she did!
I'm a big girl,
too, so maybe you had the same problem trying on wedding dresses that
I did -- many of them made me feel even fatter than I am. In fact,
one made me laugh out loud because I looked like a barn with a lace
tablecloth thrown over it. I laughed at the store, but I felt really
depressed later.
One word of
warning about waiting for tears: I found my perfect wedding dress in
the first shop I went to, but all the advice guides say you should
look around, so I did. Bah! By the time I realized that was the dress
for me, they had discontinued it. It actually worked out in the end,
because I think this one suits me better. But consider how you will
feel if you can't get it later... If you love it, I say Go For It!
By the way, I've
attached a pic of my wedding dress so you can see what it looks like.
it's not really as pink as it looks in the picture.
