Deb and Greg’s Story!

December 5, 1999
Tamarac, Florida

Greg and I met on March 21, 1995 - through a personal ad, no less! I was tired of meeting the same type of guy - the afraid of getting involved type!

The first night Greg and I met, I knew he was "Mr. Right!" We had spoken on the phone for many hours prior to meeting and even though I didn’t know what he looked like, I knew he was my kind of guy. We hit it off immediately, and then when he told me "I love steaks rare..." I knew we were perfect for each other!

We have known each other 4 years. Greg proposed last year right before Thanksgiving and we have been planning our wedding ever since.

We are having an outside ceremony under a very large gazebo, followed by a cocktail hour, also outside. This is one of the driest months in Florida, so hopefully it will not rain, but we have made arrangements for everything to be inside, just in case! One of our best friends will be playing the music for the ceremony and for the cocktail hour.

We will then move inside for the formal reception. Our favors are twin handblown glass hearts which hang from a golden chord and have our ribbon (red and gold) attached. We have wrapped them in red tissue and put them in shiny white 4" x 4" boxes, and tied with red curly ribbons and a tag with each person’s name. They will be placed at each person’s place setting.

We have ordered large baskets of pointsettias for both outside and inside and for the centerpieces on the tables, with crystal candle holders and gold candles on the tables. We are using a lot of white tulle and twinkle lights for the dance floor, the head table, the cake table and gift table. We are also having white icicle lights hanging from the ceiling around the dance floor. There are many ficus trees which have twinkle lights in them also.

Our colors are mostly white and Gold with Red Pointsettias. We will be having an open bar and sit down dinner consisting of Ceasar Salad, choice of Prime Rib, Chicken Francese, or Sole Almondine, Wedding Cake (Italian Rum Cake!), and Gourmet Chocolate Pops wrapped with pretty ribbons served with the cake. We will be having a champagne toast.

Greg and I will do a "first dance" (My Kind of Woman, My Kind of Man - Vince Gill and Patty Loveless). We will then do a "parents dance" (Wind Beneath My Wings - Bette Midler). We are not "tossing the bouquet" but will be giving it to the couple among our guests that has been married the longest.

We have a rather small bridal party consisting of a Matron of Honor and Best Man, and Jr. Bridesmaid.

We leave our reception and will be staying on the beach in Hollywood, Florida Sunday night and then we leave on a cruise on Monday -- it is a 4 night cruise returning on Friday. We are keeping it short because we have to travel to Alabama for a party being held for us after the cruise.
