An ordinary
reception room can be transformed into an absolute wonderland through
some talented decorating. Ambiance is created through the use of
twinkle lights, draped through the branches of weeping fig trees
which are clustered into corners of the reception hall to fill in
open spaces, thereby adding warmth to the atmosphere. The result is
extremely intimate and absolutely enchanting. The use of frothy white
tulle and soaring white centerpieces creates a mood which is
undeniably romantic, while glamourous at the same time. |

This head table
setting wouldn't be anywhere as glamorous as it is without the
glittering swagged tulle and twinkle light back drop adorning the
wall behind it. Take a close look and notice, too, the pretty white
lights shining through the table skirting. When lights are placed
underneath the skirts, the linens serve to filter and diffuse the
light, creating a very soft and highly romantic effect. A brilliant
technique by Elegance and Ivy of Michigan. Tulle swags along
the front of the table are the perfect finishing touch to top of this
very romantic look. |

Decorative columns
are used to highlight and enhance the wedding cake in the photo
above. The columns, accented with ivy and white tulle, act as spacial
filler, warming up the empty space behind the cake table. Their tall,
narrow form is perfectly proportioned to accentuate the height of the
wedding cake, while creating a visual 'frame' for it at the same time
in this parellell design. Just imagine how much less interesting this
picture would be without the columns in place. Isn't it remarkable
how the addition of such a simple design element can make such a
dramatic difference to the end result? |

A wooden wishing
well is set in the corner of the reception room to collect cards from
wedding guests. Although the well itself is quite simple in its
design, leaving the natural wood exposed, it is beautifully enhanced
by the decor immediately surrounding it. There is no need for heavy
ornamentation on the wishing well because of the detail and drama
which is so lushly created all around it. The table it sits upon is
covered and skirted in traditonal bridal white, and then edged with
pretty white tulle and tiny white twinkle lights for emphasis. A
garland of white florals and greenery runs along the top perimeter of
the table, encircling the well. The remaining space on the table is
filled in with a breathtaking arrangement of flowers in pretty
pastels. As a result, the entire tabletop appears coved by flowers,
with the wishing well seemingly rising from them - just like a scene
from a country garden. The look is extremely romantic. Once again,
decorative pillars are used to 'frame' the scene, adding further to
its visual appeal, and lending themselves to the air of romance and
intimacy. Lastly, tulle and twinkle lights climb their way up the
corner, behind the well, which serves to warm up the corner and to
further enhance and highlight the star of this scene, the wishing well. |

Yet another fine
example of how the right decor can totally transform a very basic
banquet hall. With the use of lots of greenery, tulle, and twinkle
lights, the end result is nothing short of magical. The back drop
behind the head table is a clever technique for creating a more
intimate environment around th ebride and groom, rather than leaving
the space behind them wide open and 'cold'. |
