Tall centerpieces
create a spectacular display, adding drama and lavishness to the
reception room. They are best used in rooms with high celings, as
pictured here. The height of the centerpieces helps to fill in the
space and create a 'visual ceiling' for the eye to focus on. Imagine
how much less interesting and inviting this room would have been if
low laying centerpieces had been used! |

Outdoor wedding
receptions are at present very much in fashion. Here the consultants
and designers at Affaire of Elegance in the San Francisco Bay
area have made wonderful use of lighting and luminaries to create
ambiance, elegance, and an intimate atmosphere. In many cases, decor
for an outdoor wedding or reception can be kept relatively simple as
nature does much of the work all on it's own. |

Outdoor
environments, when used for wedding ceremonies, generally lack the
type of focal point that an alter in a church or chapel
provides for such an occasion. An archway like this one, designed by First
Impressions in Southern California, is the perfect way to create
that much needed visual point of referance around the bride and groom
during the ceremony. A canopy is another similar solution. Most
designers agree that this type of focal point is probably the single
most important element of outdoor ceremony decor. The archway
pictured above is a breathtaking creation of balloons, frothy white
tulle, and green ivy - a highly appropriate choice for a wedding
ceremony since ivy is a symbol of fidelity! Ficus trees, graceful in
apearance, are excellent 'filler' for open spaces and are used here
to create a backdrop behind the arch. This provides a necessary
visual block of the parking lot behind. |

Today more and
more couples are incorporating balloons into their wedding decor. For
the bride who does not have a limitless budget, balloons offer a less
expensive decorating alternative to large fresh floral arrangements,
while filling in open spaces equally well. The tall centerpieces
pictured here are a marvelous compliment to a reception facility with
a volume ceiling, at fractions of the cost of fresh floral
arrangements of roughly the same size. |

Gorgeous wedding
centerpieces can be as simple as grouping a number of candles of
varying sizes together, then casually laying some flowers in
complimentary colors near by. The picture above is a perfect
demonstration of the visual impact color has in wedding decor. With
the right carefully chosen colors, even relatively simple wedding
decor packs a powerful punch! Products

Sensational table
centerpiece for wedding receptions, showers, or engagement parties
are a snap for anyone with a wee bit of creativity. Simply fill a
clear glass bowl with water. Next, insert some blooms and greenery
down deep into the water - in this case simple lilacs with their own
leaves worked beautifully. Lastly, add some floating candles in
colors that compliment the colors of the florals. Note that in the
picture above each candle is a different color - this creates an even
more striking visual impact. When the entire look is tied together,
the end result is a spectacular display, yet it was so very easy to
put together. Products

Balloon decor is a
charming and inexpensive way to fill in and dress up a plain or
uninteresting reception hall. Here, a romantic backdrop to the head
table is created. Dozens of balloons are assembled onto a 'balloon
heart' which is nestled between two 'balloon clusters'. A garland of
white tulle ties the whole look together, while adding softness to it
at the same time. |

Another divine
idea for the do-it-yourselfer. These quaint little table centerpieces
can be created by wrapping a small flower pot with fabric, then
holding it in place with a piece of ribbon or raffia. Florist foam is
then cut to fit into the pot and then the stems of silk roses are
inserted around the perimeter of the pot. For the finishing touch, a
votive candle in a votive cup in placed into the center of the
arrangement, where it sits atop the florist foam, and... voila!
Imagine all the different possible looks which could be created
simply by playing with color for the fabric pot wrap, the roses, and
the candle itself. Let you imagination roam! Products

Balloon artistry
is used to add dramatic visual impact to the wedding cake pictured
above. This is a wonderful visual 'trick' which can be used to make a
smaller, less expensive cake seem more spectacular. The addition of
the balloon display suddenly adds a sense of volume to the cake
itself. The cost of adding this drama with balloons is substantially
less than what one would spend to achieve the same effect with a
larger, more elaborate cake. |
