These pretty wedding candles, customized by you, make elegant candle wedding favors for your guests, at very minimal expense. Hand out your candle wedding favors to wedding guests just as they are, or wrap the candles in tulle or clear cellophane and tie off with a nice ribbon!

To make these candle wedding favors, you'll need a nice assortment of small pressed, dried flowers or leaves. You can purchase pressed flowers from craft stores, or you can always press your own: Collect leaves and wild flowers while on a lesiurely stroll, then simply place them between the pages of a heavy book. Leave them there for a few weeks, until the flowers are completely dry. It's a good idea to place the flowers or leaves you are pressing in between a folded sheet of white paper to protect the pages of your book from any moisture which is released by the flower as it dries.

Pansies work very nicely, and don't forget to consider ferns when choosing your leaves - they look great on white candles. Maple leaves look terrific on ivory candles. Be sure to consider pressing ivy leaves for your wedding candle favors too - ivy is a symbol of fidelity, so it is wonderfully appropriate for your wedding favors!

The Parra Wax listed in the supplies list below is available at the grocery store in the canning / preserving section. The Modge Podge listed in the supplies list is a product made by Delta - ask for it at your local craft store or buy it online.

Votive Candles or Small Sphere Candles

Pressed Flowers or Leaves

Modge-Podge or White Glue

Parra Wax

Instructions:

1. Using a small paint brush, generously apply the Modge-Podge or white glue to the backs of the flowers and/or leaves

2. Position the flowers or leaves in attractive positions on the candles. Press with your fingers to secure into place.

3. Using a wet paper towel, gently wipe off any excess glue. You needn't worry if a small amount of glue remains on the candles because it will dry clear.

4. Allow the glue to dry.

5. Melt the Parra Wax: Fill a large cooking pot part way with water and heat on stove over low heat. Place the Parra Wax in a large tin can, and then place the tin can in the pot. Remove the can from the pot when the wax is fully melted.

6. Using pliers, pick up each candle by the wick and dip the candle completely into the heated Para Wax to 'seal' the flowers. Use a Bamboo skewer to press any lifting lead stems back into the cooling wax.

7. Dip each candle a second time.

8. All to cool on a sheet of card board covered with wax paper. Your candle wedding favors are all done!

Variation: Instead of dipping the candles in heated Parra Wax, you can also seal the candles by completely coating them with white glue or Modge Podge using a paint brush. Dipping the candles in wax will generally produce a perfectly professional result, however, brushing with glue or Modge Podge is a good alternative if you prefer a simplified approach.

Caution: Wax should be supervised at all times when being heated - it is flammable. Do NOT over heat. Wax will be VERY hot when heated - To avoid risk of burns, be careful not to spill or touch. This project is not to be used by children without close supervision of a parent.
