How to Get this Look:

Here a salmon colored table cloth sets the backdrop for the rest of the design.  Mercury glass votive candle holders of various shapes and sizes are clustered and positioned at the center of the table, and run the entire length of the table.

The gold and bronze candle holders pick up the hue and refection of the table cover as they shimmer by the candlelight.

The clear glass charger plate coordinate well with the simple, classic wine glasses and water goblets.

A plain white linen napkin is positioned in the center of the charger, and accented with a large gold star to complement the gold mercury glass candle holders.

Make the DIY Napkin Holders/ Wine Glass Decorations:

To make the star napkin holders and/or wine glass decorations, you’ll need a star-shaped stencil, roughly 5″ in diameter, available in craft stores.

  • You’ll also need card stock. For the decorations shown above, gold card stock was used, but you can also use silver or really any color – or use plain white card stock and later spray with glue (use “spray glue” available in craft stores) and dust with glitter.
  • Using light pencil, trace the star shaped stencil on to the card stock.
  • Use a sharp exacto knife (also available at craft stores) to carefully cut out the start shapes. Make smooth cutting strokes, to end up with clean cuts.  Make sure the exacto knife has a sharp blade. If not, you won’t get smooth cut and will end up with jagged edges.
  • Carefully cut a slit in each star, extending from the center of the star out to the edge for napkin holders; for wine glass decorations you’ll want to cut the slit a little shorter so that it goes from the edge of the star by not quite all the way to the center (extend it about 3/4 of the way to the center from the edge of the star).

For a variation on this look, spray each star with spray adhesive and dust with glitter.

Here is yet another star DIY wedding table decoration idea you can pick up and run with:

You can create star shaped wine glass “charms” (kind of like little tags) that you fasten to the stem of each guest’s wine glass. What is really cook is that you can write each guest’s name on their star so that the stars do double duty as unique little place cards.

How to Make the Star Place Card Holders:

To make the star shaped place card holders, you’ll follow a similar method as described above, but with a slightly different twist.

  • Once again, you’ll need a star shaped stencil, this time roughly 3″ in diameter, available in craft stores.
  • You’ll also need card stock. This time silver card stock was used in a slightly heavier weight, but you can use any color – or use plain white card stock and later spray with glue (use “spray glue” available in craft stores) and dust with glitter.
  • Use a hole punch to create a small hole at the top of each star. You can purchase a hole punch at stationary stores or at craft stores.
  • Use fine ribbon or fine gauge wire (available at craft stores or floral supply stores) to string through the hole on each star and fasten to each glass. Write the name of each guest on the stars if you will be using these as place cards, and place at the approrpriate tables.   An ordinary ballpoint or felt tip marker is fine, or consider using a metallic paint pen for extra pizzazz.

For a variation on this look, spray each star lightly with spray adhesive (sold in craft stores – its like glue in an aerosol spray can) and dust with glitter in the color of your choosing.
