Simple DIY Centerpiece Idea for a Rustic Wedding or Shabby Chic Wedding

Forget the same old, same old wedding centerpieces – this one make’s a great conversation piece at your reception tables, its something guests will really take notice of and enjoy.

This simple but super-sweet DIY wedding centerpiece idea is perfect for a country or rustic wedding (see more Rustic Wedding Ideas), or for a wedding with a shabby-chic theme. In fact, these charming little candle jar centerpieces would also work well for just about any casual wedding or a cozy backyard wedding. They’re versatile!

And they’re also super-easy to make (go DIY!) and cost almost nothing – you can’t beat that.

Here’s How to Do It: 

You’ll need:

  • jars
  • natural twine or raffia
  • votive or tea light candles
  • pages from old books.  One good sized book ought to do it. Look for books of poetry, romantic novels, or something similarly romantic.Note:  You could also use newsprint, but we love the idea of the paper being printed with romantic prose, which is why we recommend old books of poetry, etc.

Keep in mind that the text will be visible to your guests, so choose something that will engage them and become a conversation piece at the reception tables.
