Dear SuperWeddings: My groom-to-be and I are not traditional at all. I want my wedding party and I to walk down the aisle to music unlike any other wedding we have been to. Do you have any ideas on out-the-norm songs? We’re looking for non traditional wedding songs. “Beautiful Day” by U2 is a song I am considering. So I need one for me walking down the aisle to, and one for when we are coming back down the aisle together at the end of the ceremony. Thanks!
SW Answer: Lots of couples these days are putting a unique twist on their wedding ceremonies by opting for more contemporary, popular music instead of the traditional walking down the aisle songs. BUT, if you are getting married in a church, BE SURE to clear this the minister before you get your heart set on anything, because many churches have strict rules about the type of songs you can use during a wedding ceremony. Assuming you get the go-ahead, here are some great non traditional ideas for songs to walk down the aisle to… (see below)

Non Tradtional Walking Down the Aisle Songs
WE’RE NOT BEING TOO TRADITIONAL EITHER.We haven`t picked songs for the ceremony or to for walking down the aisle to yet. But we have chosen the song for OUR ENTRANCE INTO THE RECEPTION – WE ARE GOING TO WALK INTO “THIS IS WHY I’M HOT” AND WEAR HOODIES, SUNGLASSES, AND GOLD CHINS WITH DOLLAR SIGNS. I THINK IT’S GOING TO BE ORIGINAL, FUN – AND COOL PICTURES.
Walking Down the Aisle Songs
I’m walking down the aisle to “WeddingSong”by Ahmir (see video further down on this page). I have them flying in from Boston. Not only are they sing for my walk down the aisle but for our first dance “True Love” And one other song. It took a lot for me too talk my guy into it. But he caved !
Contemporary Wedding Songs to Walk Down the Aisle To
We’re walking down the aisle to Adam Sandler “Grow Old With You” — this is the song:
Another Good Song…
Oh and also check out the Bryan Adams song called “I thought I’d seen Everything”
Try asking a DJ?
Have you tried asking a DJ their recommendation? You can have them do all the work for you. We wanted a hands on wedding where he wouldn’t talk too much, just play our songs. Does that help?
Walking Down the Aisle Songs
This is the video for my song I’m walking down the aisle too. I can’t wait and they are going to sing!!!!!!!!
WEDDING AISLE SONGS
Im getting married in 37 days time and been looking for the right songs. I have come up with Endless Love by Luther Vandross and Mariah Carey. Also, “Here and Now” by Luther. Still decideing which one to go for.For walking back up the aisle, “Take That” by Geatest Day or Seal’s “Wedding Song”, or “signed sealed delivered”by Stevie Wonder. So hard to decide on its driving me mad!!!!LOL
I wanna hold your hand
I’ve chosen “I wanna hold your hand” originally by the Beatles, but from the Across the Universe movie soundtrack.
I’m getting married in a registary office in less than 3 weeks. I need a song to walk down the aisle to. I’m thinking of The Style Council – “Your the best thing” and Peter Cetera’s “Your the inspiration” for the signing of the register, and I have “take that”for walking back out.
Walking down the aisle songs
We are also going non-traditional for walking down the aisle songs. The wedding party is entering to Loius Armstrong’s “What a Wonderful World”. I am walking down the aisle to “It had to be You” and we are walking back up the aisle together to “Happy Together”by The Turtles. All are being played on violins though.
I love the idea of the non-traditional songs being played on such traditional instruments. Nice twist!Best of luck on your wedding!
I am thinking about walking down to “I want to grow old with you” by Westlife.
Wedding Songs for Walking Down the Aisle
I am going to walk up the aisle to Buon Giorno Principessa from Life is Beautiful (La Vita e Bella). Beautiful song, and I am his Principessa!
Walking down the aisle song
I am also getting married outdoors and have chosen “Only You” from the New Breaking Dawn soundtrack. Check it out on YouTube. So romantic. I’m having all the girls walk down to it, including myself, as it is a long song. I will enter at a dramatic point in the song.
Walking down the aisle to Shania Twain
I’m thinking of using the Shania Twain song from This Moment On. Then Tim Mcgraw “Its your love”for walking back out
If going non-traditional give Bright Eyes -“First Day of My Life” a try. Such a sweet song and adorable video.
Rocking Aussie wedding!
I’m getting married in 3 months, and really want to bust out from the traditional slow song thing.
So if wife-to-be agrees, we’ll be walking down the aisle to “You shook me all night long”by AC/DC and I’ll do a bit of that rolling around on the ground, air guitar and kicking stuff. It will be awesome and really shock a few of our stuffy old guests!
I’m walking down to “Kissing You” by Desiree & whether the husband to be likes it or not – we’re having “Kiss The Girl” (Little Mermaid) as soon as we’re pronounced, followed by Wedding Singers “I Wanna Grow Old With You”.I can’t wait now! Only 6 months to go!!
“Maybe I’m Amazed” by Paul McCartney –acoustic version. We’re gonna have “Once Upon A Dream”, too, in the beginning when everyone else but me is coming down the aisle!
I am walking down the aisle to “Across the Stars” by John williams (Star Wars soundtrack)….signing the register to “Heartbeats” by Jose Gonzalez…..and will do our first dance to either “Everything I Do” by Bryan adams (it has a VERY sentimental meaning to me) or “Never gonna be alone”by Nickelback
For the signing of the regsiter I’m using Shania Twain’s “From this moment”. I think it’s very fitting at that point in the ceremony.
“I Feel Good” by James Brown
Also Another Great Song for Walking Down the Aisle
“Can’t Help Falling In Love” by Julio Iglesias
Alternative Wedding March Song
There’s a new Indie instrumental alternative wedding march song called “Walk down the aisle with me” by Hal Sokolow. It’s downloadable on amazon.com and there’s a sample of it on YouTube. It’s ethereal, beautiful and different.
Christmas wedding song
My friend got me a song called CHRISTMAS FEVER (AKA I Don’t Need No Candy Canes), I think its super – maybe around garter tossing time or something like that.
Non Traditional wedding songs
I think its a great idea for you to use off the normal path songs for your special moment even through the event. IE garter flowers or money dance would be great times to use that kind of music.
Really nice walk down the aisle song
I personally really like “Walk down the aisle with me”, mentioned above.
Walking down the aisle
I am going to walk down the aisle to Carrie Underwood “Mama’s Song”. I lost my mom in February 2010, so it is dedicated to her. And we are being introduced to “So Big” by Iyaz. Just 6 months to go.
I used the song Book of Days, by Enya. It was very pretty.
Lionel Ritchie is da man!
I’ve always loved “Endless Love” by Lionel Ritchie and Diana Ross.
Try “Take Me The Way I Am”by Ingrid Michaelson. The video below prints out the lyrics as the song is playing so you can see the words…What song ideas do YOU have for walking down the aisle? Leave a comment below!
