Wedding Decorating Ideas

Wedding Decorating Tip

Truly creative wedding decor often goes well beyond ordinary flowers or balloons. For an impressively distinctive do-it-yourself wedding, look for items to decorate your reception in non-typical places - this means looking well beyond the traditional wedding supply stores, and using a little imagination.

This is how the best wedding consultants in the business approach wedding decor - and it's precisely how they manage to achieve those wonderfully individualized, one-of-a-kind looks for every wedding they work on. And you can do the same.

An added bonus - by thinking creatively and shopping for your wedding in 'unlikely' places you're likely to save money along the way. This is because you'll avoid that strange little phenomenom which seems to dictate that anything sold with the implicit purpose of a wedding automatically comes with a dramatically inflated price tag. Ever notice that...?

Watch for clearance sales of seasonal merchandise which can be incorporated into your wedding decor too. The post-Christmas season is an excellent time to pick up bargains on decor for upcoming fall, winter, or christmas weddings. Right now, for example, many stores are clearing out themed merchandise at bargain-basement prices. This makes for a wonderful opportunity to pick up items which will lend themselves to exquisite wedding decor.

The candy cane pillar candles shown at the left were a perfect example of the types of items that can be picked up after christmas for weddings taking place next Christmas. The months ahead will fly by quickly (ask any one who's ever been a bride!) so its never too soon to start planning. Product was from Illuminations , but may no longer be available. Browse their web site for equally exquisite decor ideas.

Keep in mind that these types of seasonal items are generally only available during the holiday season, so if you are planning holiday season wedding, this is the time to do your buying. You won't find such themed items in July or August, as your wedding draws nearer!

Our editor, expert wedding consultant Linda Kevich, set out to find some other examples of fall, winter, and christmas decor items which can be incorporated into wedding decor for gorgeous impact. Many are reduced in price now at online stores, but only while supplies last. Take a look to get ideas, and become inspired.

You'll find more decor ideas for weddings for all seasons in the side-bar on the left hand side of this page. If you'd like product info on any item pictured, it can be found by clicking the accompanying link. Remember, some of the merchandise featured may be clearance items, and is available only while supplies last, or may no longer be available at all.

A single votive candle burning behind the glass panes of these lanterns gives off a soft, dreamy light, creating a setting of ambiance when used as centerpiences at a wedding reception. Use one per table, or combine in groups.

For a truly unique centerpiece idea, create enchanted worlds of light as the softness of pastels and the glimmer of metal come together in candle sleeves and a runner of sheer metallic fabric. The little bags dress up votives, while the sleek glass cylinders filled with water hold floating candles. The runner makes a stunning backdrop for any celebratory centerpiece. Fill them with water and floating candles, then veil them with the gossamer colors of our Iridescent Sleeves.

Classic, elegant centerpieces are easily created by grouping together pillar candles in varying heights. When chosing candles, quality counts. Better quality candles, like these from Illuminations, will burn longer and brighter.
