We are going to go to Scotland to get married in a castle, so our reception will take place a couple of weeks later. Our idea is to have our parents wedding pictures at the reception along with ours. We have purchased Waterford picture frames to put their wedding pictures into and have purchase a larger Waterford picture frame in which we will place our wedding photograph. Since we are going to Scotland to get married, we will have our picture taken before we go. (He is going to wear a kilt!) We also plan on taking videos and playing them at the reception. Since our reception is after we return, so we think this is going to be a really cool way to share our special moments with everyone. We hope we can pull it all off!

Here’s something interesting I’m doing at my wedding…. I have large collection of song lyrics. So, for my gift to my bridesmaids I’ve gone through and selected many that focus on love and the positive aspects of relationships. I’m going to have them printed in a beautiful font. Then I’m going to add a brief cover letter stating how my fiance & I think of music as poetry (because we’re huge music lovers) and that this collection of music perfectly conveys all the thoughts and emotions that have been inside of us since we met. We’ll also mention how we hope they’ll enjoy reading these. Finally we’ll bind them with beautiful ribbon.
Thanks for the idea of painting the terra-cotta pots. I’ve decided I’m going to paint miniature flower pots and fill them with Hershey Kisses for my wedding favors! Thanks for all the other wonderful ideas!

We have thought of all kinds of centerpieces for our December wedding and have come up with we found at a collectible store a tabletop gold wire hang that can support a hanging ornament of a wedding couple atop a wedding cake ornament for each of our tables. We plan to write our names and wedding date on the bottom of each ornament that will be given away at the reception.

Many of the weddings that I have attended have had matchbooks and napkins with the bride and groom’s name on them. With my fiance and I being avid golfers (that’s how we met as well!), we decided to wrap up a dozen golf tees with our names imprinted on them to place at each setting. Not only is this more inexpensive, but guests can look back and remember how much fun they had every time they use them.

My fiancé and I were at a wedding last year and the bride had set hospitality baskets in the bathrooms. The baskets had every little thing you might possibly need like safety pins, sewing kits, dental floss, chapstick, clear nail polish, Band-Aids, Advil etc. There was a poem that went along with the baskets, letting guests know to take what they need. I thought it was a neat idea! You have a great website. I wish I found this a year ago when I began planning, I would have saved myself tons of legwork!

At our wedding, we are not having the traditional guest book. We are doing the picture mat idea, but we are introducing one extra. We are going to have a fancy, decorated tray. On this tray will be rolodex cards. Our guests will be asked by our Hostess’s to fill out their names and contact information on the front; and then a prayer, wish or piece of advice on the back. This way we can use the information for things like thank you notes, and we’ll also have a lasting reminder that we can see every time we use it.

I haven’t been chosen yet to be a lucky bride, but I thought this idea might help some special couple. Get your florist to provide you with vases for the head table so that the bridal party can put their flowers in water to keep them nice during the dinner. Plus, it adds color to the head table – what a refreshing idea!

My fiance comes from a big family. Along with 9 brothers and sisters, he has 15 nieces and nephews too. At our reception we will have a table set up just for the younger children who will be attending. We will have crayons, coloring books, books, paper, and a few toys. This should help keep them busy for the reception!
